I came back from 10 days in Egypt organized by Terra Trips and I can only agree with all the positive feedback on the forum.
There were three of us who had been dreaming of this trip for years and the agency lived up to our expectations.
Our stay was much the same as what you plan to do @avaxelai :
- two full days in Cairo to visit Giza, Saqqara and Dahshur as well as the Egyptian Museum;
- a day in Aswan with visits to the Philae temple, the nature reserve and the Nubian village;
- a short cruise on the Nile from Aswan to Luxor, 4 days and 3 nights on the boat with a visit to the temples of Kom Ombo at sunset and Edfu at dawn during the cruise as well as a visit to the temple of Luxor arriving ;
- an extra day to Luxor with visits to the temples of Karnak and Queen Hatshepsut, valley of the kings and artisans, hot air balloon flight over the west bank of the Nile;
- we ended up spending 3 days at the edge of the Red Sea at El Quseir to swim with fish and corals but it wasn't easy, it was very windy.
We had two French-speaking guides just for the three of us throughout the stay: Ali in Cairo and Mustapha on the Aswan-Luxor (he was with us on the cruise too), and it really makes all the difference.
They are as passionate as they are fascinating and take the time to answer all our questions, we learned so much about the history of the sites we visited, about ancient but also modern Egyptian society.
We also had vehicles and drivers just for us on all our trips, it's quite comfortable.
Amro calls us every day to see if everything is going well and he is super responsive whenever there is a problem.
In terms of expenses, the basic quote offered to us by Terra Trips was €1,980 per person, excluding international flights. We only had to pay for two meals during the entire stay.
Amro has arranged for almost everything to be included in high-end hotels (first time I set foot in a Hilton).
If we add the price of international flights, the activities that were not planned in the program that we had to pay extra for (nature reserve and Nubian village in Aswan, hot air balloon flight and visits to the temple of Hatshepsut and the Valley of the craftsmen to Luxor) as well as the various tips to give throughout the stay (don't hesitate to ask Amro to give you an estimate.
He will give you details of the amounts to give at each stage in an indicative manner, without obligation), our stay cost us approximately €2800 per person.
Maybe we could have found cheaper elsewhere or by organizing the trip ourselves without going through an agency but honestly, no regrets.
We spent 10 exceptional days with the impression of being treated like kings and if the opportunity presents itself, because we obviously missed a lot of things like Abou Simbel (it was offered to us but with an additional 140€ and above all 8 hours of driving for 1 hour on site… we didn't feel it).
We won't hesitate for a second to visit Terra Trips again.
