Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Cairo

Arrival in Cairo, welcome, assistance with customs formalities and support, then accompaniment and installation in your hotel with swimming pool, (subject to availability), 5 * in the city of 6 October 5 * Hilton Pyramids Golf 15 km from the Giza pyramids, or near the city center, 4* luxury Steigenebereger el Tahrir, or 4* Novetel el Borg. Day 2Cairo (The Pyramids and Tombs of Giza & the Little-known Pyramids of Dahshur)

Departure for the giza plateau, visit the exterior of the pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos as well as the mysterious Sphinx.

Then, departure off the beaten track, you will visit the very modest remains of High Temple, or only the basalt soil remains, within which the 42 priests used to perform the ceremony of opening the mouth of the royal mummy before burying it in the pyramid, then visiting of empty pits gigantic hollows dug into the rock, which were intended to accommodate solar boats of the king during his journey into the afterlife.

Day 3Cairo - Al Minya (330 Km)

Continue north to the first Christian pilgrimage site in Egypt: Djebel el Teir (the mountain of birds – brooding of the Virgin), built on the cliff overlooking the east bank of the Nile and located in the middle of an enclave reserved for a small Christian community (Coptic) where, during Marian festivals, thousands of pilgrims set up their camps around the Monastery.

Day 4Al Minya (60 Km)

Day dedicated to discovering the monuments of the right bank: the necropolis of Beni Hassan – one of the most beautiful in Egypt – dug into the limestone cliff, the ancient necropolis aligns the facades of its tombs on a terrace a hundred meters long and overlooking the Nile Valley.

It contains the tombs of feudal lords of the Middle Kingdom as well as the personnel of the royal court. Continue with a visit to the small temple of Queen Hatshepsut of Establ Antar (Antar's stable).

Continued with the discovery (from the outside) of the most spectacular Muslim cemetery in Egypt Zawyet el Mayteen (the corner of the dead), lunch at the end of the visits in a typical local restaurant in the city center, then accompaniment to your hotel. Night at the hotel.

Day 5Al Minya (Tell el Amarna – Touna el Dejbel (120 Km)

We head towards the left bank, we will reach one of the most legendary places in the valley: Tell el Amarna, the ancient Akhet Aton (Horizon of Aton). This city is located in a wonderful site surrounded by cliffs, from which we will have the most beautiful view of the ruins of the ancient desert city as well as the green plain with the Nile on the horizon. We will also discover the traces of the ancient razed city, then we will explore the necropolis and its many tombs whose decorations representing the sun hold a prominent place, and which preserves the famous “Great Hymn” to Aton.

Departure for the visit of Touna el Gebel, where we will first discover the necropolises of sacred animals (ibis and baboons). Day 6Tel Amarna - Assiut – Sohag (330 Km)

We will first leave for Assiut, an important city in Upper Egypt on the west bank of the Nile. From its location in the center of a vast, very fertile plain, it was the starting point for the caravan routes leading to the oases. Even today, thanks to the dam on the Nile, it is a crossing point.

On the road we will discover small villages, so you can admire the real Egypt with its simple and peaceful people.

Then we will visit the Monastery 'Deir el Mohareque': This is the church that, according to legend, housed the Holy Family during their flight to Egypt. Thus, every year two religions: Christian and Muslim, celebrate the end of the fast of the Virgin Mary in this place.

Day 9Luxor: The East Bank

Departure for the in-depth visit of temples of Karnak… The Karnak religious complex—incorrectly called the Temple of Karnak or simply Karnak—comprises a vast collection of ruins of temples, chapels, pylons, and other buildings located north of Thebes, today the city of Luxor.

Departure off the beaten track for a visit to one of these little-known temples: for example the one dedicated to the goddess healer there lioness highly appreciated by the ancient Egyptians. We will first cross - an impressive spectacle - thousands of pieces of stones from the excavation fields undertaken on the site, where you will be almost the only ones.

Continuation through the discovery of the more confidential sites of Karnak, dedicated to the hidden god Amon: visit the wonderful Red Chapel of Queen Hatshepsut, and the magnificent alabaster chapel of King Sesostris. Lunch in a typical restaurant in town.

Departure at the end of the afternoon for the visit of the luxor temple illuminated under a very beautiful light which highlights its beauty. Night at the hotel.

Day 10Luxor: The West Bank -> Cairo

We will visit part of the grandiose necropolis of Thebes where the sovereigns of the New Kingdom were buried in hypogea, dug into the mountain, possessing luxurious and abundant funerary furniture. In-depth visit to the Valley of the Kings, or we will visit three remarkable tombs in which they still preserve magnificent exceptional painted reliefs thanks to the freshness of the colors and the particular care taken during their creation, visit of the tomb of Rames IV, Sethi II and Taousert (if they are open during your trip).

Stop at the foot of the Colossus of Memnon, once guardian of the castle of King Amenophis III for millions of years.
